The Newtown Kennel Club, a member of the AKC, holds general meetings several times each year, sponsors all-breed conformation shows, and offers various events and training classes.
Health clinics are held every July including CERF, BAER, heartworm, thyroid and cardiac testing. Collections for the CHIC DNA repository are conducted. Also, AKC-DNA certification and microchipping are offered.
All-breed match shows are held in October in Bethel, Connecticut.
Training classes in both breed handling and obedience are held at Edmond Town Hall on route 25 just north of the flagpole in Newtown, Connecticut.
