Newtown Kennel Club sponsors Obedience Training Classes and Breed Handling Classes at Edmond Town Hall, located just North of the Flagpole in Newtown, CT.  For more information please see below.

Breed Handling Classes:

Handling classes are held every Tuesday night at the Town Hall, starting at 7:15 PM.  This service is performed on a volunteer basis by club members.  A nominal fee is charged to non-members for each class.  There are 2 sessions:  7:15 PM - 8:00 PM, then 8:00 PM - 8:45 PM.

A couple of important notes about the Breed Handling classes:  Any assistance you might give prior to the class, or following the class would be appreciated.  Mats need to be rolled out prior to class, and rolled up and put away following class per our agreement with Edmond Town Hall.  Since these classes are held on a volunteer basis, it makes it more enjoyable for all when we pitch in to help. 

Also, please be advised that all puppies attending classes must be 16 weeks of age or older.   Thank you for your cooperation.

 

Obedience Training Classes:

Two levels of Obedience training is offered by the Club.

A Beginner class is offered for inexperienced dogs and owners.  This class is intended for the general public to help them gain control of their pets and to teach them the basic commands of sit, stay, heel, down and come in a group setting.

 

 

An Advanced Beginner course is offered to those completing the Beginner class and wish to improve upon their dog's performance.  This class is also offered to those individuals that wish to pursue obedience competition.

 

Both classes are designed as 7- or 8- week courses.  Prices vary dependent upon the number of classes in the session, typically from $80-$90. Classes are also held at the Town Hall on Tuesday nights, starting at 7:00 PM.
